Halfmoon Lake Association 2015

August, 2015 Biannual Meeting

The August meeting was held at the WMCA camp, August 23.  Preceding the business meeting, our guest speaker, Tiffany Grande, a project biologist from the Loon Preservation Committee, delivered a presentation on the state of loons on New Hampshire lakes.  Before starting her presentation, Tiffany gave a optimistic update regarding a loon reported in distress located in the Western Cove.  Tiffany's presentation to the well attended meeting of 29 members focused on the life history of loons and the most common environmental threats with lead fishing tackle at the top of the list.

Following the speaker, the business meeting dealt with a number of issues, including water quality, milfoil reports on other lakes, the man-made loon nest, boat traffic, signage, and plans to observe the 50th anniversary of the association.  The 2016 July meeting was voted for July 9.
